Meribel Resort Information.
Meribel was founded by an English man - Colonel Peter Lindsay,
a dedicated pre-war skier, built the first lift here in 1938. Amazingly,
the resort has stayed faithful to his original concept of a traditional
chalet village: every building has been constructed in local stone and
wood in harmony with the mountain setting.
Meribel is the largest totally linked ski resort in the world with
over 600km of ski area, a wide choice of lift pass options in both
summer and winter, an over 30 sports shop to choose from.
Meribel is a lively resort both in winter and summer, with many
different shops, bars, restaurants and activities on offer. With the
Olympic centre offering swimming pools with slides, bowling lanes, ice
rink, tennis courts, climbing wall & trampolines. The Chaudanne is the
central meeting point for all of the mountain lifts and is a focal point
in both summer and winter.
The main resort of Meribel has a choice of 12 bars, 15 independent
restaurants plus those attached to the 23 hotels. Meribel also has a
wide choice of chalets and apartments.
